Classes Offered

Beginner Hula - Sundays 9am - 9:45am

This is an entry level hula dance class. Students will learn basic hula components, to include hand, foot, and hip movements, as well as some language, and cultural significance. Students will build on their basics to learn their first complete hula.

Intermediate Hula - Sundays 9:45am - 10:30am

Building on basics, students are introduced to dance combinations and basic choreography. Students continue to build their hula dance skills and are introduced to other Polynesian dance.

Advanced Hula Class - Sunday 10:30am - 12:00pm

This class is for dancers with previous hula dance experience. Students will learn new choreography, include moving transitions, using implements, and work on technique. Show and competition dancing is encouraged but not required.

Enrollment

Enrollment cost is $30 per month for Satellite Beach residents and $33 for all others.

Where are you located?

Classes are located at the DRS Community Center, 1089 S. Patrick Dr., Satellite Beach, FL 32937. The dance studio is accessed through the main lobby/office entrance, left side of the building, studio is straight forward in the back of the building.

What is the cost of tuition?

Our tuition fee is $30 per month for Satellite Beach residents and $33 per month for other. One tuition covers all classes. Classes are not pro rated and tuition is the same cost each month. Payments are due by the 1st day of the month.

If you are planning on attending any Sunday classes at the Recreation Center you must be registered with them. Payments can be made online once you have created an account with the recreation center. www.playsatellitebeach.org

If you prefer to pay in person you can drop a check off with the registration form at the Recreation office.

What is the minimum age requirement?

Our minimum age to attend class is currently 14 years of age.

What should I wear or bring to class?

Beginners class- Active wear, including tank tops, t-shirts, and shorts are completely appropriate, you may wear a sarong if you would like.

Int/Advanced class- Please wear a pa'u, if you do not have one we would be happy to provide one for you to borrow during class.

We ask that you remove your shoes before entering the dance studio.
